In the early 21st century a breakthrough in computer technology led to the creation of artificial personalities - individuals strong enough to have made their mark on history can be recreated at the touch of a button. Not breathing but living in every other sense of the word, it seems they make the perfect slaves - no upkeep required.

By midcentury these very real ghosts in the machine have made themselves indispensable in all areas of life. In business and politics they are consultants; they teach, they are secretaries, they are even nannies - and the phrase "computer user" takes on a a sinister new meaning. But the biologicals are exploiting  history´s best and brightest make very dangerous slaves...
